Our 2023 Spring Baseball season for Cal Ripken is nearly underway. Team assignments are complete, and coaches are actively preparing for the upcoming season.
WAYBS has been hard at work and has a few exciting things going on:
We've held numerous Strike Zone clinics and a few Sunday afternoon practices at the Woodstock High School gym in preparation for the spring season.
Vail Field is to be re-laser graded and manicured. The existing permanent mound will be removed, and a Babe Ruth/Cal Ripken-approved new artificial mound will be installed. This new mound will provide a better playing surface and allow us to support the three different pitching distances we need to accommodate: 46', 50', and 60'6" by moving it back and forth to designated markers.
New cement slabs are being poured in preparation for our dugouts courtesy of KMI Concrete.
The Vermont Lake Monsters has provided us with a professional (used) Pitching Machine! We've purchased a new set of balls and look forward to introducing the machine to the kids.
WAYBS has purchased a new pitching/hitting tunnel to be installed at Vail Field as a safe location to practice/warm up.
WAYBS has subsidized new Flexfit hats for the Cal Ripken Majors team this year courtesy of Grandstand Apparel. We are also in the process of opening up a Team Store for all of Woodstock Youth Baseball to allow families/players to purchase additional "swag!"
We have been busy ordering banners to install on our new backstop as a "thank you" to our sponsors for 2023. If your business would like to support us - don't hesitate to get in touch with us today: john@woodstockvtbaseball.com
We are preparing to frame out new dugouts at Vail Field on the weekend of April 22nd - weather permitting.
We've contacted the Vermont Lake Monsters about having another "Woodstock Baseball" day at Centennial Field. Final details are being confirmed now, but be on the lookout for that.
That's all for now - and many more things to come. Play ball!
